Prioritizing Your Health is Prioritizing the Planet
This week’s guest blogger is an O-G in the plant-based holistic healing movement! You might know Jose Rosa from him & his wife’s beloved plant-based meal prep & catering company, Everest Eats! He’s now offering his services as a Plant-Based Holistic Health Coach.

At times, there can be a feeling that focusing on your personal health and wellbeing can be selfish. We often forget self-care to put our focus and attention on the care of others. But this mindset, this idea, this logic is not only detrimental to your own health, but also impacts the health of the planet.
In celebration of Earth Day, let’s dive into how you can help the planet each day simply by focusing on your personal health and wellbeing.
When coaching my clients, we focus on what I call The Four Pillars:
1️⃣ Environmental Detoxification
2️⃣ Whole Food Plant-Centered Nutrition
3️⃣ Mental Health
4️⃣ Habit Transformation
These Four Pillars are a holistic approach that transform the body directly and the planet indirectly. Here’s how…
🌱 Environmental Detoxification
When we begin our program, we start with your environment, because you can’t heal in the same environment that made you sick.
There are so many toxic chemicals hidden within our food, personal care products, and cleaning supplies that are quietly taxing our bodies every single day. These chemicals are allowed into the market for human consumption, despite mounting evidence that they disrupt our health.
When your body is constantly battling environmental toxins, it’s forced into survival mode rather than healing and thriving. Over time, this takes an enormous toll.
When I work with clients, we help them become aware of these hidden dangers, empowering them to make conscious, educated choices about what they bring into their homes and their bodies. Choosing natural, plant-based alternatives doesn’t just protect your family’s health, it’s a powerful way to “vote with your dollar” and support companies that care about people and the planet.
A beautiful example of this mission in action is Sanctuary Wellness. Their entire approach is centered on helping people detoxify their bodies and their environments. Through holistic therapies, non-toxic products, and education, Sanctuary Wellness is empowering people to reclaim their health naturally, and in doing so, contributing to a healthier planet. It’s an honor to share this aligned message on their platform.
Whole Food Plant-Centered Nutrition
When choosing what you put into your body, it’s important to understand this simple truth: every bite is either promoting ease or creating dis-ease.
Nutrition is the foundation of health. It’s something we do multiple times a day, every day, yet it’s often left up to marketing, cravings, convenience, and habits rather than conscious choice.
Through our coaching, we help clients reconnect to the power of food as medicine, and teach them that what you choose to eat today shapes the future of your body and the health of the planet.
One of the most transformational truths I’ve personally discovered , and share with my clients , is that consuming animal products is one of the biggest drivers of chronic illness in humans and environmental destruction on the planet. I know that can be a tough one to swallow (pun intended), because it’s what most of us grew up with, believing it was necessary.
But becoming curious, learning, and choosing to add more plants into your diet, even if it’s one meal at a time, is one of the most powerful acts of personal and planetary care you can make. Take what resonates with you, leave what doesn’t. Just stay open. That’s where change begins.
🧠 Mental Health
Mental health is the silent driver behind so many of our daily choices, and it deeply connects to how we show up for ourselves and the world around us.
When coaching clients, we dive into the importance of reducing stress, cultivating mindfulness, and reconnecting with nature. We talk about how the health of our inner world reflects out into the health of the outer world.
Spending time in nature, practicing meditation, creating moments of stillness, these are not luxuries, they are necessities for a thriving mind and heart. They allow us to move out of constant reaction and into conscious creation. When we feel good mentally, we naturally make better choices for ourselves, our families, and the Earth.
💪🏽 Habit Transformation
Transformation doesn’t come from one big moment; it’s the result of tiny decisions stacked over time.
When I work with clients, we focus heavily on habit building, and not just any habits. Habits that support a thriving body, a peaceful mind, and a lighter footprint on this planet.
It’s about becoming mindful of what you consume, how you move your body through regular exercise and movement, how you nourish your mind with positive inputs, how you rest and prioritize sleep, how you foster gratitude and connection, and how you give back to others and the Earth. It’s about shifting from a “consume and discard” mindset to one of intentional living.
Before you buy something new, can you fix it? Can you create something instead of consume something? Can you reuse, repurpose, or choose second-hand? When we build these habits, not only do we enrich our lives, but we also lighten the load we place on the Earth.
Small shifts, when multiplied over time, create massive impact.
🌎 Your Healing is the Planet’s Healing
As Chief Seattle so beautifully said, “Man did not weave the web of life; he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.”
When you focus on your health, you’re not just changing your own life , you’re contributing to a more sustainable, thriving world.
